California has a long history of waterfowling and aside from the storied pintail flights of the Suisun marsh it is perhaps best known for San Pablo bay canvasback hunting. What the casual observer may not know is that the bays, rivers, and Delta are teeming with divers of many species during the winter migration. Lesser & Greater Scaup are a favorite for their decoy strafing tendencies, Barrow's & Common Goldeneye for their whistling wings and kevlar-esque body armor, and Canvasbacks because they are simply "The King" of ducks.
